Welcome to Whitley Beaumont Campsite

 A Scout Campsite since 1952

OS: SE 205159

backwoods1 Whitley Beaumont Scout Campsite is an oasis of woodland charm set in the 11 acres of rural countryside between Huddersfield and Mirfield in West Yorkshire. The site has minimal facilities - a Cub hut with a kitchen, a stone and brick store and toilet block and a stone built warden's hut. There is of course a campfire circle and a reasonable supply of wood from the woodpile.

The stores carry some basic pioneering equipment, nets, and polythene sheeting but it is the intention of the site management to retain the quiet woodland atmosphere of the campsite rather than load it with activities.

The site lends itself to basic camping, nature trails, conservation projects and similar events.

The site was donated to Huddersfield Scouts in the 1950's but there has been camping at Whitley Beaumont since 1928 - To read more about Whitley Beaumont  go to the History page.

Whitley Beaumont is an effective nature reserve - free from agriculture, pesticides and development it is a haven for flora and fauna.  There are images from the site and events at the site in the Whitley Photo Album.

Visitors to Whitley Beaumont may be interested in the local attractions listed on the links page.

Check out the Downloads for project ideas for nature based camps. We will add more ideas as we find them ourselves.
